What is Pregnancy Massage?
Pregnancy massage, also known as pre-natal massage, varies from traditional massage mainly in the positioning of the client. Positioning of the client correctly is vital to ensure the comfort and safety throughout the treatment, of both mother and baby.
Throughout the training we will also discuss the techniques, such as deep tissue work, that cannot be carried out during a pregnancy massage treatment, as well as the areas that need to be avoided. We will also endeavour to show you how to adapt and tailor the massage to a pregnant woman depending on their personal needs, and to suit the stage of pregnancy and the changes to their body.
Pre-natal massage that is done regularly will help to support your client through the changes their body endures through the different stages of massage, reduce significantly the chances of pre-natal depression, lower back pain and regular pregnancy massage has been shown to lead to significantly fewer premature births and lower birth weights.
